Ever notice that being a mom is hard? It’s not too glamorous either. No flashy awards are involved. Nearly everything you do goes unnoticed. (Except if you head to the bathroom. That can seem like a family affair with the kids in tow or knocking on the door. Ha!) Many sacrifices are made daily. Some days you are swimming in diapers, laundry, and loneliness. Some days it’s easy to wonder if it’s really worth it; or if you are doing enough. Maybe even if you are enough.

Dear fellow mom, it’s worth it! And whenever you find yourself lacking, you will find strength in God. (He promises here and here. And here and here and here–just kidding. 😉 ) He handpicked you for this. If He called you to be a mother, He will equip you. If He entrusted you with precious little lives, He will supply you with everything needed to mother each one!

I’m Katie. I’ve been married for 16 years to Hugo. We are a cross cultural couple. I’m a Midwestern gal and he’s Guatemalan.

Pale redhead meets much less pale (handsome) dark haired fellow. We are both bilingual (English/Spanish) and we lived in Guatemala for about 5 years when we first got married. Now we live in Missouri.

I am also a mother to Ally (13) and Charlie (2). I am blessed to be a stay-at-home mom who also homeschools (even though that was never a part of the plan). My daughter is super creative and has the kindest heart. My son is learning so much each day and really starting to talk. He has the cutest things to say! My kids give me a reason to smile each day. 🙂

I am also a passionate follower of Jesus.  I am amazed that He calls me a friend.

I dream about having a home filled with life (hence “A Home with Life”), maybe you do too? Not only the kind of life that goes along with a home filled with laughter and family fun, but a home filled with Jesus. He is true Life. He is the Source of life for us and that life can spill out into our families and homes.

It is my hope that as you read the words written on this blog (and on any printables you download) that you will feel that Life. I have a deep desire to bless and encourage moms. Mothering is a hard job (understatement-of-the-year) but not one that many would give up–even for any treasure in the world.

I’d love to encourage you when you need encouragement, and cry with you when you need to shed a few tears. Speak truth when you need to hear it; inspire you as we gaze upon the beauty of our God together. And bless you in any way that I can.

I wish that I could come over and watch your kids so that you could take a long, peaceful, luxurious bath, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to do that. 🙂 Instead, please go to this page and scroll down to the bottom where it says “Just For Moms”. Then click on the button that says “Free Printables for Moms”. It will take you directly to a download page of some printables I made just for you. (Note: There is also a place to subscribe to my newsletter and get access to all of my free printables at the top of that page—I’d love to have you join our community and be able to get to know you better!—but the button that says “Free Printables for Moms” takes you to the goodies without signing up for anything.)
